What is the BFA Chronicles?

The BFA Chronicles started as a TikTok series where I explained my experience in my Bachelors of Fine Arts program and showed all of my assignments and the process of making them. On TikTok, I found out about snail mail clubs and thought a snail mail club would be an amazing extension of the BFA Chronicles series. (See the next section for what specifically is included in the BFA Chronicles snail mail club.)

A snail mail club is a service some artists provide to make their work more affordable and accessible as well as to build a community around a central idea of their practice. Usually, a snail mail club will include an art print of some kind as well as a letter from the artist with updates about their life, what inspired the piece included, and perhaps other information depending on the style of snail mail club. Some clubs are focused on a particular idea or feeling like shared meals, poetry, or nostalgia and might include themed items related to that theme such as stickers, a poem, or a story from their childhood. Even if you don’t join the BFA Chronicles Club, if you are interested in affordable art collection, please consider other artists’ art clubs! What will I get if I sign up for the BFA Chronicles?

My snail mail club is focused on my Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA). If you are interested in art, but aren’t sure about committing to a full art class or want to know more about the experience of getting a Bachelors of Fine Arts, this is the club for you!

Each month, you will receive:

• A letter explaining my experience that month in my program, including what lessons and techniques I learned, any notable experiences I had, and how I’m feeling about my program.

• A 5x7 print of an artwork created either in my art class or especially for the club.

• An explanation of the technique and assignment for the month as well as a list of the supplies needed. (Note: you will need to purchase any supplies yourself!)

• A copy of my completed assignment.

Please note that the BFA Chronicles installments will be mailed with a stamp to keep membership costs low, so there will be no tracking information available for the letters.
